West Linton

Course:    West Linton Golf Club

Location:   West Linton

Brief description:  Set in the heart of the Pentland Hills, this is truly one of the county's hidden gems. Lots of car parking after heading through the centre west of the village from the  A702, then up a wee lane, which on our last trip was in need of some pot hole filling. Check in at the pro shop.

What to expect of the course: A course that meanders over the moor, with trees, water and well designed holes makes this an absolute delight to play. On a course that commands views over the rolling hills there is never a dull moment which concludes with a demanding final stretch where finishing without dropping shots against your handicap is to be commended. The 17th and 18th are two very difficult par 3's - to play them back to back is a challenge and as the final 2 holes increases that significantly. Great course, good luck on the final stretch.

What to expect of the overall visit: The clubhouse is closed on Thursdays but otherwise is open for business as you'd expect. It's a modern single level building that ticks all the boxes for members and visitors alike. In dreamland, if this course were slightly closer to the city of Edinburgh, then it would probably be the most popular.
