Trump International

Course:    Trump International

Location:   Balmedie, Aberdeenshire

Brief description:  North of Aberdeen lies this relatively young course which was introduced with a well deserved fanfare. As you would expect, everything about this place is stunning. The check in process on arrival is what you’d expect from a 5 star resort, after which you then follow the directions to soak up everything there is to see before golf. Arrive in plenty of time.

What to expect of the course: This is a top golf course. It is possibly the only golf course that you get as much pleasure from looking at, as playing. The course is manicured, the fairways are like carpets, the course seems spotless. It is extremely photogenic from the tees of each hole. The machair is never far away and can claim an errant shot without having done too much wrong. The tips at the 18th are designed for the big bombers as the majority will not get anywhere near the fairway from them – don’t play from there, but do have a go for fun and use a ‘Mullligan’ from the normal tee.

What to expect of the overall visit: Expect to be stunned visually and most probably to use more than the ball you started with. It is a very good golf course, which, like many of the newer stadium courses, offers generous fairways (at times) and large undulating greens. It’s a fair walk and if your 4 ball gets round in 4 hours you’ll have done well. Finally, and once again, take time to enjoy the hospitality – it comes at a price but you’ve gone to Trump International for that experience.
