Torwoodlee

Course:    Torwoodlee Golf Club

Location:   Galashiels, The Borders

Brief description:  18 holes of wooded and parkland ground. The course lies in a valley surrounded by mature trees and the River Gala. The Borders Railway cuts through its sloping site.

What to expect of the course: A picture postcard course of just over 6,000 yards. The course starts by the River Gala then crosses the railway after three holes. Several holes are played uphill asking stamina questions. With five holes to play the railway is crossed again, just after playing the dramatic 12th and 13th.

What to expect of the overall visit: Just outside Galashiels the course is signposted from the A7 road. Members will tell you “There is only one hill.” And there is.

The friendly, welcoming clubhouse should be your first port of call. In here experience great F&B and a ‘braw’ atmosphere. There are buggies to hire to make tackling the sloping site easier. A Border’s Gem.
