Tain

Course:    Tain Golf Club

Location:   Tain, Ross-Shire

Brief description:  A really great links which has not changed much since it’s creation. Links turf, sand dunes, views over The Dornoch Firth. You will be glad not to have omitted this course from your northern sojourn.

What to expect of the course: At 6,400 yards Tain is not overly long but a number of forced carries over heather to rumpled fairways makes the course a favourite. The Aldie Burn is a good feature while the 11th hole, ‘Alps’, will test your metal. Good bunkering and fairways which filter tee shots towards them, make Tain a thinking golfer’s course.

What to expect of the overall visit: The club is well signposted from the town, Scotland’s oldest royal burgh. A sheltered car park greets visitors. Head straight for the very friendly and helpful pro shop. The pro can give you good advice about tackling his course. The clubhouse is also a welcoming place, offering excellent F&B.

You will have a good day at Tain……..and if you don’t play so well, Glenmorangie Distillery is very near.
