Stirling

Course:    Stirling Golf Club

Location:   Stirling

Brief description:  18 holes in a fabulous setting with views over The Ochil and Lomond Hills, the Carse of Stirling and Southern Highlands. It has the memorable backdrop of Stirling Castle. The course opens and finishes with par 5s. Always in good condition with tempting tee shots avoiding well placed bunkers.

What to expect of the course: Stirling has evolved since 1869 with a combination of Willie Fernie and Henry Cotton creating the 18 holes now played. Most certainly parkland with great fairways leading up and around the large mound which faces the clubhouse. Many golfers remember the 15th. A par there is like gold dust.

What to expect of the overall visit: Stirling probably deserves to be better known than it is. Several elevated tees are what many golfers enjoy. The pro shop staff give visitors a friendly, helpful start to their visit. The clubhouse is first class and friendly. The golf course is both scenic and challenging and the castle behind keeps everyone thinking of Scottish History while making their own golfing memories.
