Course: Royal Burgess Golfing Society

Brief description: RBGS claims to be the oldest golfing society in the world, instituted in 1735. A tree-lined parkland course, very well maintained and bunkered, sometimes described as “Handsome and Civilised.”
What to expect of the course: Royal Burgess is a pleasure to play, as you might expect from the architects involved it its design and development. The course enjoys many fine mature trees and has invested in the planting of many young specimens.
Known for challenging par 4s and well guarded par 3s. ‘The Burgess’ allows golfers of all abilities to enjoy their rounds. The 18th is a memorable finish….not to be underestimated.
What to expect of the overall visit: The club is easily found and the majesty of the imposing arts and crafts clubhouse cannot fail to impress. Car parking is generous but often busy. The pro shop should be the first port of call. It is very well stocked and the staff very helpful.
For golfers who like elegance and history in their golfing experience, Royal Burgess clubhouse is the place to visit.
Traditions need to be upheld at times, so be aware of what might be expected of visitors. Top end golf at a top notch venue.
