Course: Ranfurly Castle Golf Club.
Location: Bridge of Weir. PA11 3HN
Brief description: An 18 holes set on classic moorland with a ‘nine holes out- nine holes in’ layout. It makes the most of its elevated ground both in layout and views.
What to expect of the course: The course has undulating fairways and excellent greens. Some holes call for strong hitting but others ask good questions of players’ course management and strategy. These skills are tested from the start with hole number five being memorable, especially on the green. Hole eight is a challenge into a west wind and the tenth offers risk and reward. ( May I suggest caution?).
The course has a strong downhill finish on holes seventeen and eighteen.
What to expect of the overall visit: Ranfurly Castle is an impressive place. It’s sheltered car park sits beneath the towering clubhouse. Check in at the friendly pro shop. Practise your putting on the beautiful green. The club’s practice ground is beside the 17th fairway and has its own car park. The clubhouse is both beautiful and comfortable. A friendly greeting is always on offer. The catering is first class in spacious, comfortable, welcoming surroundings. You will be back.
