Powfoot

Course:    Powfoot Golf Club.

Location:   Cummertrees, Annan

Brief description:  18 holes mixed between Links and Parkland ground. It has great views south over the Solway Firth to The Lake District.

What to expect of the course: Powfoot is rightly thought of as ‘a hidden gem.’ It deserves to be praised and played by many more than it is. Perhaps it’s best holes are those set in the whins, but the more open later holes are probably a relief. A favourite hole for many is the 9th involving a testing tee shot then a second shot over a bomb crater.

What to expect of the overall visit: Generous car parking and sight of the full practice ground greet visitors to Powfoot. Report in at the small shop or the clubhouse. A friendly, helpful greeting is always offered.

After playing the course, probably in a wind, you will be made very welcome in the clubhouse where F&B are both of quality and good value.

Any golf trip to Dumfries and Galloway should include this lovely gem.
