Course: Port Glasgow Golf Club
Location: Port Glasgow.
Brief description: 18 holes on high moorland with great views over the surrounding land and River Clyde. It starts and ends with par 3s and is a good test.
What to expect of the course: The course was originally 9 holes but the present 18 hole layout was completed in 1974. Quite exposed on wet, windy days but the views can compensate. The course is good value and kept in good condition. Some holes require courage but the course is fair and rewards accurate play.
What to expect of the overall visit: Check in at the clubhouse after parking in the ample car park. The clubhouse has been refurbished in recent years and offers a friendly atmosphere and good value F&B. “The Port” is a splendid golfing secret offering good value golf and wonderful views.
A very friendly club.
