Panmure

Course: Panmure Golf Club

Location: Barry, Carnoustie - Angus

Brief description: One of the oldest golf clubs in the world, the course was originally laid out by famous ‘Old’ Tom Morris and later updated by James Braid. Panmure is a combination of links and heathland.

What to expect of the course: At just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, this isn’t a long course, but it’s sufficiently challenging to have hosted Open Championship regional qualifying. Straight drives are crucial, as the well known Barry rough flanks every fairway. The condition of the course is excellent and close attention is paid to every detail, from tee to green. This is a must-play course and the sixth hole, immortalised by Ben Hogan, is truly unforgettable.

What to expect of the overall visit: As soon as you step out of your car, the Panmure experience is truly outstanding. The clubhouse is a real treat, where you’ll be surrounded by the full history of the club. Hospitality is second to none, a menu that’s perfectly crafted for golfers is served by very friendly and up-beat staff. Practice facilities are superb, with every aspect of your game catered for by a driving range, short game area and large putting green. This is a golf outing to savour, study the comprehensive website before you arrive and make the most of the facilities to warm-up, you’ll want to do yourself justice on what is one of Scotland’s oldest and finest golf courses.
