North Inch

Course:   North Inch

Location:   Perth

Brief description:  Its rumoured to be the first place golf was played in Scotland, by King James VI! A municipal course with a tremendous layout. Park nearby at the metered parking in the Bells Sports Centre and report to the starters office adjacent to the 1st tee.

What to expect of the course: After a generous opening few holes which parallel one another you turn a corner to the 4th hole which takes you onto an outstanding remaining 15 holes. It has features galore, dog legs, risk and reward and is simply a very good track. Those who maintain and run this course deserve great credit as it punches well above its weight.

What to expect of the overall visit: Paid parking is the only issue. There is a new small coffee bar for pre and post golf and the course is relatively flat. As its in the 'North Inch' dog walkers, cyclists and walkers are common place, but that mostly affects only the first 3 and last3 holes. The 16th is perhaps the shortest par 3 in golf, but beware the River Tay and its small tributaries which will gather a chunk, thin or lack of commitment.
