St Andrews, Strathtyrum

Course:  Strathtyrum Course, St Andrews – est 1993

 Location: Fife

Brief description:  An 18 hole links course designed by Donald Steel. The course runs adjacent to the Eden and Balgove Courses.

What to expect of the course:  A short but true links golf course of 5620 yards from back tees. A par 69 the course has 2 par 5s and 5 very interesting par 3s which are all under 200 yards. The greens feature more gentle slopes than the other St Andrews courses but provide some great opportunity to play the Scottish pitch and run shot should you miss the target with your approach play.

What to expect of the overall visit:  Report to the Starter which is near the first tee and actually in the Eden Clubhouse. Excellent changing facilities with lockers and showers and a nice lounge for meals and drinks.

Other features:  Ample car parking which is close to the Driving range and short game area. There are 2 putting greens beside the 1st tee. Trolleys available for hire. Caddies are subject to availability and should be booked in advance.

For visitors we can highly recommend the Strathtyrum – either as an enjoyable course in it’s own right or indeed as a great way to warm up to links golf in St Andrews if playing one or more of the other courses.
