Vaul, Tiree

Course:    Vaul Golf Club

Location:   Tiree

Brief description:  Situated on a meadow, this 9 hole course has a Scottish Golf Course Rating and allows you to measure your handicap on a course that is probably how golf was really played when it started. No issue with parking, a smart little clubhouse and you book via the Scottish Golf App.

What to expect of the course: It is not manicured and the greens are fenced in to protect them from sheep, but it is a good track to test yourself on, particularly where some of the holes are blind. It is laid out over a fairly large area so never really congested, and just shimmers in the outer Hebridean light.

What to expect of the overall visit: Golf on the isles is always fascinating, as the difficulty these clubs face with income and maintenance is rarely experienced on the mainland. Expect to play a rated course, in tranquil surroundings. If you play to your handicap you'll be chuffed as the natural hazards can be daunting.
