Brief description: Nestled in the heart of the impressive golf complex at St Andrews’ Eden Clubhouse,  is the charming and fun 9-hole Balgove course.

What to expect of the course: The Balgove is the only nine-hole course at the Home of Golf and primarily caters for families, children and beginners. A nicely maintained course with many of the links golf elements you’ll find on its more famous siblings. Consisting of three short par 4s and six par 3s, this is the perfect place to begin your golfing career. It’s also an ideal course for mixed-ability family golf, short enough for the youngest of players to enjoy and tricky enough for low handicappers to test their accuracy.

What to expect of the overall visit: There’s plenty of free parking close to the Eden Clubhouse, and the Balgove Starter Hut is adjacent to the car park. You’re also very close to the driving range if you want to have a quick warm-up before your game. After what will inevitably be a fun game of golf, pop into Café Spike in the Eden Clubhouse where they serve simple, Scottish fayre and refreshments.
