Fortrose & Rosemarkie

Course:    Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club

Location:   Fortrose, Black Isle

Brief description:  The course is situated on a triangle of land at Chanonry Point, famed for dolphin spotting, and opposite the historic Fort George, across the Moray Firth. These are just a couple  of the attractions of this stunning venue. Lots of car parking though tight wee roads to get to the club from the A9.

What to expect of the course: It's easy to be intimidated on the 1st tee as all you can see is a narrow strip of fairway, gorse left and right and a green in the distance. This course is all about accuracy - play the club that keeps the ball in play from the tee. The first 4 holes take you to Chanonry point where the 4th, a par 5, needs guile, not brawn. A lovely par 3  then takes you across an access road and for a little while you get to open your shoulders before the last 7 holes demand that accuracy again. Its a short course which has lots of protection but is utterly superb.

What to expect of the overall visit: You should expect sheer delight at the location, the golf course, the clubhouse and the hospitality. It is majestic in every way and even has a new Pro Shop with swing studio if the weather is unfriendly. A modest green fee for a really good course....did I mention it was tight?
