Murrayfield

Course:    Murrayfield Golf Club

Location:   Murrayfield, Edinburgh

Brief description:  18 holes of fine parkland built on ancient volcanic rock. Its high holes provide great views of Edinburgh and sounds from the neighbouring zoo.

What to expect of the course: At 5800 yards, Murrayfield is not a long course, but every hole presents its own challenge, and all levels of golfer will be asked questions. The course is very well prepared with lovely greens. The two nines are different; the first undulating, tight and full of character; while the back nine is more open.

What to expect of the overall visit: Car parking is limited at Murrayfield. The pro shop is very well stocked and the staff welcoming and helpful. The course would appear hilly but it is not a taxing walk and is set in well-heeled surroundings. The clubhouse is very comfortable, welcoming and well appointed. F&B is of a high standard. Murrayfield is a unique experience; let’s hope the zoo’s soundtrack is in full swing when you visit.
