Mortonhall

Course:    Mortonhall Golf Club

Location:   Edinburgh

Brief description:  Next to the Braid Hills, this course sits on the south side of Edinburgh close to the City Bypass. Lots of parking and an overflow area to assist. Check in at the Pro shop next to the car park.

What to expect of the course: A cracking opening hole takes you up and away from the clubhouse before hitting from an elevated 2nd tee that affords a good view of the course you've yet to play. The front 9 winds its way round the top of the course before heading into a fairly demanding back 9. You might feel a wee bit of deja vu on the back 9, but only briefly. Holes 16-18 are great match play holes OR tricky if protecting a score as they're not the longest on the course, but all bordered by lurking trouble.

What to expect of the overall visit: Any hills are gradual but usually last the length of the hole. It is a peaceful, picturesque course with a 'traditionally modern' clubhouse. You'll feel you are in a special place as the atmosphere is gentle. A very good golf course where paying to your handicap is no mean feat.
