Machrie Bay

Course:    Machrie Bay Golf Club

Location:   Machrie, Isle of Arran

Brief description:  On the west coast of the island, Machrie Bay enjoys wonderful views to the west to Kintyre. A flat nine holer in a seaside setting. Short, but still a good test for all golfers.

What to expect of the course: A nine hole gem; each hole is full of character, although some say it is not too difficult. It is true that some greens are tucked away, but that is part of the course’s defences. The same tees are used for both nines.

If you get a chance of some advice about the course, before you go out, this might pay dividends.

What to expect of the overall visit: Holiday and Island Golf at its best but the course has enough to challenge all levels of golfer. The clubhouse has a friendly welcome and a pleasant tearoom. There is a card payment machine for quiet, unattended times.

Don’t listen to those who ‘poo poo’ nine hole courses; Machrie Bay is well worth a visit. Go on and enjoy it.
