Lybster

Course:    Lybster Golf Club

Location:   Lybster, Caithness

Brief description:  With great views over The Moray Firth, this 4,000 yard gem sits on just a fifteen acre site. Its longest hole is 318 yards while its shortest is just 90 yards. It is a par 62 course. This might be the shortest nine holer you ever play and its location could make it one of the most beautiful.

What to expect of the course: Described by many as “A Wee Beauty” set on heathland/moorland. There are are five par 3s and four par 4s. Accurate play is essential as fairways are bordered by thick heather.

The course isn’t super-manicured. Approach it for what it is - the pride and joy of the local golfing community.

What to expect of the overall visit: It would be a shame to think that golfers drive past Lybster after feasting on its prestigious neighbours to the south. Lybster packs a lot into its small site. Its characterful clubhouse is the former Lybster Railway Station Ticket Office.

Like many wee clubs, it relies heavily on volunteers and the Lybster members love their course and club. Pop in for a game. No need to book a tee time. Enjoy the course and the views.
