Course: Largs Golf Club.
Location: Largs, Ayrshire.
Brief description: An 18 hole parkland course by the sea under the wooded grounds of Kelburn Castle. The course enjoys lovely views across the Clyde Estuary and Cumbrae.
What to expect of the course: Built on a narrow strip of land, the course is a good test, with some great tee shots to play, great greens to attack and necessary strategies to follow. Largs starts with an uphill par 3 which has a green to test the nerves. The tenth hole is visually stunning and offers a great second shot to a raised green over a burn. Visually a striking, a memorable course.
What to expect of the overall visit: parking can be a little limited on really busy days. Check in at the pro shop to the right of the commanding clubhouse front door. Enjoy good F&B upstairs and a very good putting green. Warm up shots can be hit into nets above the clubhouse to prepare for that demanding tee shot to the first hole.
Largs does not disappoint; expect to make repeat visits.
