King James VI

Course: King James VI Golf Club

Location: Moncreiffe Island, Perth

Brief description: A short walk from Perth city centre, the course is believed to be one of only two inland island Golf Courses in the world. It was designed by the famous ‘Old’ Tom Morris.

What to expect of the course: A beautifully presented parkland course where accuracy is key. The clever placement of trees, bunkers and natural features makes you think your way round this

thoroughly enjoyable course. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, this isn’t a long course, but it’s still a testing Par 70. You’re well-rewarded for straight drives and accurate irons at the tricky Par 3s. The condition of the course is excellent and the well-kept greens are a joy to putt on.

What to expect of the overall visit: There’s a large paid car park close to the old stone steps where you’ll begin your 10 minute journey, on foot, to the club. If you can ‘travel light’, you’re advised to do so. The walk there is a minor inconvenience to enjoy this unique golfing experience. There are good practice facilities to get ready for your game and you can expect a warm welcome in the

comfortable clubhouse, where you’ll enjoy a well-stocked bar and excellent menu.
