Kilmarnock Barrasie

Course:  Kilmarnock Barassie Golf Club

Location:   Troon, Ayrshire

Brief description:  Two links courses here - The classic 18 hole Championship Course, plus the 9 hole Hillhouse Course created from the original layout. “Impressive” is an understatement.

What to expect of the Championship Course: A classic links creating a great test of golf.  Barassie does not have high dunes and is subtly flat with small swales and rises, beautifully created bunkers, gorse, burns and walls to create hazards. Some long walks between some greens and tees but the course is always in great condition. The course is made up of nine original holes with nine new holes added seamlessly later.

What to expect of the Hillhouse Course:  Created from the clubs original layout, the course is full of history. 2890 yards of impressive links, very much in the mould of its big relative.

What to expect of the overall visit: Barassie can be under ranked, which is a shame because it should be considered one of Scotland’s very best. Facilities are truly first class: car parking, pro shop, clubhouse and catering, staff welcome and helpfulness, practice facilities.

Kilmarnock Barassie is a joy and pleasure in every respect…..A must visit and play.
