Huntly

Course:    Huntly Golf Club

Location:   Huntly, Aberdeenshire

Brief description:  Set in a sporty area of this small but beautiful town, it is adjacent to the River Deveron, Huntly Castle, Football, Rugby, Hockey pitches and Nordic skiing. Ample car parking, a single level clubhouse with the starter/secretary at the entrance to check in. A very friendly clubhouse who just love to see visitors. Why? This course is not on the trophy course trail but is an absolute gem. They know it and once you've played it, so will you.

What to expect of the course: A short course with water features all around and through the course. The holes twist and turn over relatively flat terrain, with only a couple of ups and down. Some holes traverse the hill but at no time is it felt taxing. The first is a beatiful dog leg and the course just is pretty from start to finish. When you play the 3rd, a par 3, leave your clubs at the tee as you walk back from the 3rd green to the 4th tee which is next to the 3rd - a wee bit quirky but now you know.

What to expect of the overall visit: An unsung course generally but it truly is marvellous to play. Its a very modest green fee and the course is in terrific shape with a good variety of holes. To overlook this course would be a folly. The clubhouse offers great grub all day and the large lounge is very welcoming.
