Helensburgh

Course:    Helensburgh Golf Club

Location:   Helensburgh, Argyle and Bute.

Brief description:  Predominantly a moorland course, Helensburgh has wonderful views from its elevated position of the Clyde Estuary to the south and to Loch Lomond in the north.

What to expect of the course: Gently undulating course with good greens. Sometimes a wee bit wet after prolonged rain. Great views in all directions. Many holes are tight with some good carries off the tee. Greens cope well with rain and are usually in great order. A few doglegs make rounds interesting as well as one or two blind shots. The greens’ staff need a good pat on the back for the job they do.

What to expect of the overall visit: Easily found from the A82. Car parking can be limited, so park carefully if parking in nearby streets. The clubhouse has been refurbished recently and there are plans in the pipeline to build a new clubhouse in the new development. The pro shop is friendly and well stocked. The pro has a swing studio to help with his work. There are practice nets and a good putting green.

Helensburgh is a friendly, well run club and well worth a visit.
