Gatehouse of Fleet

Course:   Gatehouse of Fleet Golf Club

Location:   Gatehouse of Fleet, Dumfries and Galloway

Brief description:  A nine hole test on an elevated site with elevated tees and small greens, gorse and great views. The par three 9th hole is a favourite and testing one shotter. (Hopefully just one)

What to expect of the course: Famed in some ways for its views, this wee nine holer is a good test for golfers all year round. If you play 18 holes the tees and greens are the same. Accuracy is the key at Gatehouse as wayward shots can be punished by gorse. Four holes are par 3s, four are par 4s and the 6th hole is a long testing par 5.

That 9th hole is in the list of ‘Britain’s 100 Most Extraordinary Golf Holes.’

What to expect of the overall visit: Set on the edge of the village the course has a modest clubhouse and adequate parking. SGL requirements suggest that booking is necessary. The clubhouse has no catering but there are cafes in the village. There is a practice net and putting green near the clubhouse.

Enjoy that ninth hole, enjoy the views and enjoy Gatehouse.
