Course: Elie Golf House Club
Location: Elie, Fife
Brief description: At the south east of the pretty village of Elie, lies the Elie Golf House Club, next door to the Sports Club, which itself houses a charming and short 9 hole course. With reasonable parking close to the clubhouse there is never really an issue. The clubhouse and the club is a little ye olde worlde, albeit modernly so in decor and hospitality, and they like it that way. Uniquely the Pro/Starter uses a periscope to tell you when it's safe to drive at the blind 1st. All in all it is quite a start to your round.
What to expect of the course: Elie is not long but it is tricky in places. Traditional with short walks from greens to tees it is a throughly enjoyable golf course to play. The holes by the sea are simply stunning, and the holes slightly away from the sea are different only by virtue of not being by the sea. The bottom line here is that Elie is a marvellous course, where you should be prepared for a polite and courteous round of golf.
What to expect of the overall visit: You could be intimidated by the prestige at Elie, but don't be. The club is such that it enjoys what it is and that you visit it. The course and clubhouse are absolutely what traditional clubs in Scotland are imagined to be, and Elie does it ever so well. A wonderful club and course where you feel very special.
