Course: Deer Park Golf and Country Club
Location: Livingston, West Lothian
Brief description: Still quite a young course, opened in 1978. Its young planted trees are maturing well and it has sloping greens, often on multi-tiers. At 6700 yards it seems quite long but there are tees to suit all golfers.
What to expect of the course: A big golf course with a mixture of mature and maturing trees. These line the fairways of the front nine while the back nine is a more challenging walk over undulating ground with long views to Edinburgh on clear days from the highest points. There are water features and ditches on several holes adding to the challenge.
What to expect of the overall visit: Being a country club, the off-course facilities here are numerous: health and fitness, ten pin bowling, bars and restaurants. It is also a popular wedding venue.
From a golfing perspective, there is ample parking at Deer Park. Check in at the friendly pro shop, enjoy the course with all of its modern course features and then enjoy the facilities of the multi-functioning country club.
