Braehead

Course:    Braehead Golf Club

Location:   Cambus, by Alloa.

Brief description:  An 18 hole parkland course with views of the Ochill Hills, the River Forth, Abbey Craig and Wallace’s Monument. A challenging course for all golfers which can look straightforward from the card.

What to expect of the course: Many play Braehead feeling that it may be straightforward but it really is a good challenge. At a little over 6,000 it is a good honest test of golf. Its layout is easy to follow and its greens are usually in great condition and ask questions, especially the double greens. Approach shots need to be calculated carefully on a first visit. Braehead has lovely views; soak them in while you are there.

What to expect of the overall visit: After parking head for the Pro Shop. It is a friendly, welcoming place and well stocked. The modern clubhouse is welcoming and friendly and F&B is good value for money. The club has also planted many young trees in recent years and the course is benefitting now from this investment.
