Belleisle

Course:    Belleisle Golf Club

Location:   Belleisle Park, Ayr

Brief description:  Run by ‘Golf South Ayrshire’, Belleisle is an 18 hole parkland course. It is characterised by mature trees, keen rough and well-bunkered fairways and greens. A James Braid design, mostly still intact.

What to expect of the course: Belleisle is a wonderful course and a proper challenge. At nearly 6,500 yards it requires some clean hitting. Like many Braid classics it is well bunkered and has good sized greens. The course begins and ends with par 5s. It has five par 3s, most of them long…….the signature par 3 being the 17th.

What to expect of the overall visit: ‘Golf South Ayrshire’ runs eight golf courses, Belleisle being one of two parkland courses….the other being baby sister Seafield.

The clubhouse has recently been updated and has The Stables Cafe next door. It is a welcoming place offering excellent F&B.

Belleisle is a great golf course, no longer a private club, but none the worse for that.

Ayrshire is a great area for golf and Belleisle is an important part of that reputation.
