Balfron

Course:    Balfron

Location:   Balfron, West Stirlingshire

Brief description:  This is a success story that few know about. Where once there had been a 9 hole course, wartime demands occupied the land and the course disappeared. In the 90’s a group of dedicated villagers pulled together resulting in the club being reopened and not long after extended to 18 holes. The course is at the top of the village and commands amazing views for miles around including Loch Lomond.

What to expect of the course: You will be surprised at how good this course is. It sits atop the village and has lots of good holes where trees have matured, line the fairways and water features are delightfully hazardous. The rough can be tough stuff and the course is always beautifully presented.

What to expect of the overall visit: Sheer delight and gratitude at a community who have pulled together and delivered a golf course that is considerably better than many that have been around for longer. Lovely golf course, lovely views, great value.
