Anstruther

Course:    Anstruther Golf Club

Location:   Anstruther, Fife

Brief description:  This is a unique nine hole links course on the shore between Anstruther and Pittenweem. It is original and quirky and very addictive. It has great views over The Forth but requires much thought and concentration. It can challenge and entertain golfers of ALL abilities.

What to expect of the course: Expect the unexpected right from the 1st Tee where either a big drive or a lay up are required. Don’t think the 2nd is is easy and don’t go long. The 3rd and 4th stay on the high area of the course before the wonderful 5th hole - best played as a four. The 6th and 7th are also tough par 3s to take you away from the shore again. The 8th is a lengthy par 4. The 9th is a long, downhill par 3 which looks straightforward but requires strategy.

What to expect of the overall visit: Expect a good day out at ‘Anster’. Report to the friendly clubhouse first to sign in. Cross the road and prepare yourself for challenges, especially in the wind. Try not to condemn the course because it is tough and quirky. Just enjoy it……you will be back. Many return to try and bag a three at the 5th. Good luck with that. Enjoy the clubhouse which is a welcoming place.

Did anyone say “Fish and Chips?”
